So! Looks like I won't have Tyler Grady to kick around any more. Nor will Joe Munoz have to endure Blogger's lack of respect for his tilde. And Ashley Rodriguez won't have to think of any more doppelgangers in the music industry to cover. But perhaps most shocking of all, Janell Wheeler got bounced. That, in and of itself, wasn't too shocking. Her performance was lackluster and she couldn't have expected to get away with being pretty, blonde, and perky for very long. But Janell's ouster completely blows the Heart Boon out of the water. That boon had kept even the most unworthy contestants -- Melissa McGhee, Kady Malloy, Ramiele Malubay -- safe, provided they sang a Heart song. I guess rules just don't apply anywhere anymore.
Now, after a results show that threw 2 more points to Beatles pickers (via Kris Allen's Haiti-inspired cover of "Let It Be"), we've got our first-week standings. At this points, it's Team Beatles versus everyone else, but it's early. Back in Season 7, we got two straight weeks of Beatles Night, and the winner that year was a non-Beatle picker. Still, though, can we get some awful Taylor Swift songs up in here soon??
Bonus points:
Andrew +2 (sang last)
Katie +2 (sang last)
Todrick +1 (sang first)
Paige +1 (sang first)
The Beatles +8 (4 songs)
Fleetwood Mac +2
Alicia Keys +2
Rascal Flatts +2
I should note, for the newcomers, that we don't subtract points for Bottom 3/Bottom 2 unless Ryan explicitly says so. This week, as is usually the case before Top 12, the show kept it coy/misleading in that regard. In other words, don't believe Didi and Katie were anywhere close to going home unless Ryan says so.
Anyway, here come the standings, led by Brian Corridan, who continues his streak of hot starts out of the gate. Nine poolies lost contestants this week.

At least I wasn't mathematically eliminated before Ash Wednesday again. Small victories, yo.
Every time an Idol contestant sings a Beatles song, an angel gets roughed up in one of heaven's many dark, urine-soaked alleys. The year I picked The Beatles, not a single Beatles song was performed the entire season; I might as well have picked GWAR or L.F.O. Surely, a season in which practically every contestant wrote "Stevie Wonder" on the questionnaire will contain several performances of Stevie Wonder songs, right?
THIS IS MY VIETNAM.
I am pleased to see that my streak of selecting at least one contestant who gets bounced within two weeks of the start of voting lives on. I may never win this thing, but at least I remain consistent.
