The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.
1. We discussed this at the time, but the beginning of Sligh's end came when he lipped off to Simon a few weeks ago. A huge percentage of any Idol's vote comes from perceived need, and he came off like an aloof wiseacre in a sea of more sympathetic characters. If they don't think you want it, you're not gonna get it.
2. Those seeking the anti-Idol voted for Sanjaya. No one power-dials because they want a meta-Idol.
3. Baby Jesus would be super-pissed if Linda won $238, because of all the mean shit she said about Clay.
4. Sligh totally wolfed balls last night.

You picked Sligh, too, ya lunkhead.
And baby Jesus LOVES me.
I'd offer a detailed analysis, but I'm too busy doing a happy dance.
By the way, Liz wants credit because she called Sligh's ouster once Seacrest fucked w/ Haley's head when he sent Phil back to sit. The rationale was that they wouldn't be so mean to Haley if they were kicking her off tonight. Also, she has Haley in the pool.
Fuck!
(Also, whew. I kind of hated him.)
If anyone wolfed balls this week, it was me: no artist points, no first/last points, two out of my three in the bottom three, and Sligh got thumped.
I'll tell you who Baby Jesus doesn't want to get the money: DAVE, who PEER-PRESSURED ME into picking Sligh over Richardson. Fucking Dave.
(Okay, not really; it seemed like a good pick at the time. But Phil is probably the next dude to get bounced and I'm bitter.)
As long as we're lamenting coulda-beens, I hemmed and hawed until the eleventh hour about Brandon-or-Haley for my third pick. Had I chosen Haley, I'd be where? Oh, yes, FIRST PLACE. Goddammit.
I hate to lose one of mine, but it's kind of fun to see the pool so shaken up.
Even if my mom is heartbroken because, yes, she loved Sligh.
I think, incredibly weirdly, that Paula had a fair amount to do with Chris's ouster as well. I mean, he did himself no favors with the attitude and the sucking, but she was on him almost every week for the same things, and I wonder if that got into the voters' collective unconsciousness at all.
