Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that tonight marks the very first time this season -- no kidding, the absolute zero-exceptions first time this season -- that an elimination has happened without at least one female contestant going home? For eight weeks (including the three semis, where it's written into the rules), the only time a woman hasn't gone home was when the judges used their save, when NOBODY went home. True, a guy went home last week... but he took Katie along with him.
I'm not sure what this means. And I don't think I mean to say that the audience or the judges or the producers are sexist in their choices. But I find this particular pattern far too curious to let it go by without comment.
